Went to a wonderful and delicious Christmas afternoon tea at the Peninsula Hotel. Beautifully decorated and presented. Service was excellent. I particularly liked the savory pastries over the sweet bit all were delicious. You were able to choose one cocktail or mock tail plus all you can drink for coffees and teas. Highly recommend afternoon tea at this hotel!

When I first started working as a tour guide I felt like I was the luckiest person in the world. I worked for a company where the trips I guided would be fully immersive, highlighting the best in not only places to be but experiences to enjoy. It allowed me also to stay at some of the best hotels; a huge perk as I love hotels. All that being said, The Peninsula Hotel in Tokyo isn't just one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at, it's inspiration for what anyone's home would want to be. Let me explain.

      The Staff

Without the staff a hotel would just be a place you sleep at. This expression can easily describe most hotels I've visited. These are the places you book to save money and you know you'll spend the minimum time there because it's really just a reprieve from your adventures. However, the staff at The Peninsula are exceptional. Japan is already known for their politeness, respect, and hospitality. It's no surprise The Peninsula would have this but they take it a step further. They listen to your needs and find solutions. If you're celebrating an event in your life they find gifts to make the moment even brighter. They assist from taxis to suggestions for where you can find some of the most obscure wishlist items. There seems to be an answer for everything and in this way "service" isn't just a word but a goal.

      The Room

Walking into your room for the first time feels like you are walking into a dream suite. As soon as you walk in you see on the left side a huge walk in closet. This space is bigger than some people's rooms. It is situated with multiple hanging racks, full vanity table and mirrors, multiple drawers, and even an elevated bench to place luggage bags or be an impromptu bed for those who fighting with their bunkmates. If you had a closet like this at home people would endlessly compliment you with their jealousy.

The bathroom is so much better. Split in half and in almost symmetrical portions the him and her sinks are opposite of each other with the glass shower (with over head rain feature) on the left and a tinted glass enclave for the toilet with a bidet cover that automatically rises as you walk closer to it. The bathtub is the main feature though with a stone backsplash rising vertically all the way to the ceiling. The tub is huge with enough to fit two people or actually full soak one person. Not to mention, with all the buttons this tub also allows you to control the TV across the room, an overhead radio, and if you press the "Spa" button the lights will dim, the radio music will play, and the "Privacy Please" light will come on at the front of your room door. If this isn't posh I don't know what is.

When you finally get into the room you are welcomed with large windows giving you grand views of Tokyo below. Just like the rest of the room you have windows that control the opening and closing of both ceiling-to-floor curtains. The pillows are fluffy and the beds are somewhere between king and California king size. They have a Nespresso machine cozily placed in an alcove next to the flat screen TV, the couch is incredibly soft, and the nook desk to the right of the TV is perfect for work. And there are so many buttons everywhere that control everything. You will be delighted to find what each does from the mood lighting to the nail drying.

      Price

This is where you see how much it is and you realize why everything is so elevated. To stay here each room will be somewhere in the low to mid $1000s. It is a hefty price and not something most people can just spend away. But if you do get the chance to use that money here I promise it is well spent and worth it.

      Final Thoughts

If I could, I would come to this hotel every time I'm in Tokyo. It is centrally located and has so many conveniences. It is across from the Imperial Gardens, minutes away from the Ginza district, and within viewing distance of both subway and JR train lines. Everything about the service and experience is elevated and the rooms give enough reason to cancel plans and stay in simply to enjoy the luxuries. If you can stay here please do. This might be one of the highlights of your trip to Tokyo.

It has been three years (1127 days) since my last visit to Japan and the Peninsula because of the Pandemic. Before that I was there once or twice a year for a week or more since the year that the Peninsula first opened. I wondered if they would would remember me after three years, but as I pulled up to hotel there was the hotel manager and senior staff waiting to greet me. In my room there was an array of welcome back gifts. You only get this service at the Peninsula.

Excellent staff (including wonderful front desk team, amazing concierge who booked so much for us), amazing pool, and rooms to die for with every feature you could ever want. Amazing place. Possibly the best hotel in the world. Only small refinement is I would have pumped shampoo in bathroom rather than individual packages to help hotel become a big more green (but minor point). Such a great hotel. A++.

It's an easy 5 star review for The Peninsula Tokyo as this brand continues to prove that they provide some of the best service and accommodations in the hotel game. The hotel is located in a great park of town as it's walking distance from Tokyo station, Ginza neighborhood and the Imperial Palace.

Upon arrival you're always greeted by a welcoming staff and fun bellhops with those trademark Peninsula hats. The room itself was also super impressive. We happened to get upgraded and our room had a great view facing north with some lovely sights. The best part of the stay though were the pillows! Oh, and the spa/pool area. They were both so lovely :)

Tip Top, pricey but with the money if you're looking to splurge. Book with Amex and get the breakfast included because it's fun to sip coffee in their impeccable lobby.

Where we always stay when we come to Tokyo. For the most part, it's a great hotel but they can use some dusting in their rooms.

The spa and the pool are great, and the gym is fine as well. I love seeing the Peninsula Bear come out during teatime.

The restaurant upstairs is very incredible as well, from the ambiance to the food. They have probably my favorite burger in the entire world.

The Peninsula Tokyo is one of the best hotels in Tokyo. It's located close to Ginza, the financial district and is in walking distance of two beautiful parks.

The rooms are extremely large with full sized walk-in closets and dressing areas. The bathroom comes with a deep soaking tub and walk-in shower along with two vanities.

The main living space is a combination bedroom and living which comes equipped with a wonderful coffee and tea maker.

The property itself has a great pool and spa area and the gym while small is well equipped.

The only downside to the hotel are the restaurants which while of extremely high quality are similarly pricey. However, being so close to Ginza, finding quality reasonably priced restaurants is quite easy and all within a 5-10 minutes walk.

Overall, the service is also impeccable and reflects that which I would expect from any Peninsula hotel. And I certainly look forward to my next stay at the Peninsula when I'm back in Tokyo.

We splurged and stayed here for six nights during our trip in Tokyo. It could be the best hotel I've stayed at. Everything was impeccable, from room to services. They seemed to be able to think of every single detail of your trip and try to take care of everything. One bonus is that the hotel's location in Ginza is perfect, it's within walking distance to multiple Tokyo metro subway lines, JR stations, Imperial palace, Hibiya park, Jiro, Bar High Five, major shopping stores, etc.

When you decide to stay here, make sure to ask concierge to help you make reservations for restaurants - they were able to make reservations for us at all three restaurants we requested (Ryugin, Jiro, and Narisawa). When we arrived to check in, they gave us print outs of our full itinerary including directions to restaurants, dress codes, estimated price per person. The room we had was on the top floor with partial view of the park. It's spacious with a full couch, a small dining table by the window, and amazing bathroom with double sink, and a powder room. Definitely one of the biggest hotel rooms I've stayed at.

So in short, if you can sell some blood or kidney, stay here, it will make your trip to Tokyo that much better.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! First off, the location is great. Lobby is beautiful. They have a wonderful pool. Every time we went we essentially had the place to ourselves. Loved Peter Bar, they have happy hour Monday through Friday 5-8 pm. It is beautiful. The rooms are large, modern and well appointed. They have a great concierge service that you can text to ask recommendations and for dinner reservations. Nothing is too much trouble. You will not regret staying here. Phenomenal hotel!
