Bridge Harvester

Being one of the most ubiquitous of the UK's chains, I tend not to expect too much of a Harvester. They usually do a passable job at a burger and salad bar for the most part, and generally the customer service is good. But I have to say this was the sorriest example of a Harvester I have ever encountered.

The staff were sullen and surly during my visit, and moved at a glacial pace. As we placed a drinks order I started to wish the ground would open up and swallow us whole each attempt on our part to be cheerful seemed to send the bar tender into an even worse misery.

Then we come to the food. I only wanted a snack, but the two incredibly wizened potato skins which arrived were a charred blob not remotely loaded with the promised cheese and bacon. These disgraceful specimens were arranged on a bed of what looked like an entire shredded lettuce, simply drawing extra attention to their pathetic state. They were not worth the menu price at all, so I sent them back to the kitchen (something I have NEVER done before), and recieved my refund with a smash of coins onto the table and a not-quite apology.

I grudgingly give this place one star, purely for the burger and fries eaten by my companion, who assured me they were delicious.
