Brooklyn Bar & NY Burger Kitchen

YELP supper club!
I like it here.
I didn't get to see the upstairs as there was a function on.
We had initially opted to go to Reds for our supper but we couldn't get a table until 9:45.
James and myself would have been perfectly willing to wait as we really wanted to dine at Reds, but Roweena was making hungry, growling noises and sprinkling passing children with seasoning and mumbling "that one would taste lovely with some bar-b-q relish on it!".
So before there was an "incident" we decided to head down to Brooklyn Bar so Row could get her freak-on and tear into some red meat.

The bar staff couldn't have been more pleasant, attentive and helpful.

I opted for the rum burger and a pint of Blue Moon beer.

I have never had Blue Moon before and it is a spot-on refreshing drink.

When my burger came it was stacked with fresh salad and perfectly cooked onion rings.
The meat was lovely and juicy and deceptively big.
The fries where cooked just right.

James had a rack of ribs and they looked spectacular. Definitely trying them next time.

I will be checking in here again.

Me and my familia were in Leeds boating the armoury, then after we wanted a munch. I quickly spotted this bar having drunk some beers from Brooklyn brewery recently and hoped they would have some good burgers and beers. We weren't disappointed. The Long Island vodka is a nice refreshing drink and the beers are quite varied though they said they were having a change in beers and menu so have a gander and find out what new goodies they might have.
The burger were all nice and come as medium unless requested different so bare that in mind. You get a BIG portion of chips or fries that films ta right up but I would say the sweet potatoes though very tasty could have been crispier so that might something to ask. Like could you make mine extra crispy. Dunno. Anyway. I thought all round it was very nice. Would recommend. Some lovely Leeds boys too btw. ;)

Let's not be throwing stars around like shurikens, if I could review the bar separately to the food, I would indeed. And that review would likely be less favourable as a matter taste. However, there are some things you can't fault, and that would be the service and the food. I'll, of course, go into some detail.

The bad news: The bar really isn't to my tastes. Not in terms of décor, but in terms of style. The music is (and I can already hear what you're going to say) too loud and too pop for my tastes. (Whatever, I'm old.) When it's a Wednesday night and no one is in your bar, why must you ear bleed me with Rhianna and that awful awful Blurred Lines song? No one wants it. Or, at least, no one I know.

I am also not a fan of TV screens, but I realise some folks do like to watch a bit of footie. People often enjoy it when a leggy man does a goal, I understand that.

It's rustic looking and attractive, and has a gorgeously decked out little beer garden (big umbrellas please, for when it rains) so it could be much more - but alas, it's a little like a replica of vodka rev or brb in terms of personality. It needn't be - everyone else was in the aforementioned bars for their Wednesday shooter and R'n'B. My wish would be that it lives up to the NY name more, and actually takes that vibe on a little more. Underground and interesting music on the Spotify, to link into their (I'm assuming, haven't tried) NY cocktail menus and food. Just my opinion, like.

ANYWAY!

The food. My word, the food. If you come here for just one thing, let it be the burgers. Let it be the California burger, with skin on fries, and delicious crispy SFC strips. It does the same as most, and bungs them in a placcy basket to look all authentic, but when you bite down on that mother of a beef patty, and let the guac, onion rings, melty beef, jack cheese, and the rest assemble in your gob, you know you've made it. You've made it. Welcome to flavour country. I am a fan. As ever, and as will almost always be in Leeds, I wished the burger had been a touch more pink. But - my folly - I didn't ask it to be so. And those SFC strips - yes. Yes yes yes. I liked them immensely.

As for the service, not a single encounter was unpleasant, and everyone who interacted with us was fantastic. Top notch service, banter, the extra mile, and all that jazz. Props to the two girls and chap who made the night more of a four star experience than a three star one.

So, I shan't ramble on for much longer. The place has potential. I like the subway train by the loos. The actual building is lovely, and the garden is grand. The NY menu is fabulous, and the staff are brill. I just wish they'd ditch the crap music and punk it up a bit. I would definitely then be a regular.

Been meaning to go here for ages and a ready to expire KGB voucher encouraged us even more to go this week!

I was quite surprised at the layout of the place and it seems to steer more to a standing group as the seating area is a bit tucked away and more 'intimate'.

The barman was helpful in advising the details of the offer so we grabbed a beer and sat down to choose the food.

They have a good selection of beers and drinks available.
The menu is burgers and hot-dogs which you'd expect to be good standard with emphasis on a minimal menu.

We ordered :
GRILLED CAESAR BURGER
Chargrilled chicken breast served with bacon, lettuce, Caesar dressing & Parmesan cheese.
PHILLY CHEESE BURGER
A burger topped with sautéed onions & lots of
provolone cheese.

After about 10 mins we were approached by the chef to say he couldn't do the chicken burger as he had no chicken-at all! so i changed to :
GUACAMOLE BURGER
A burger topped with un smoked crispy bacon smothered in lashings of guacamole.

We waited another 15mins for the food to arrive and it was nicely presented.
The place was quite cold and they had the same 6 Xmas songs on loop so I was almost drove mad!

There is nothing worse than choosing one thing to be then told they don't have it and then to be disappointed with what you had as the substitute.

The best bit of my dinner was the fries- piping hot and crunchy.
The burger was a let down.
Unseasoned beef which was on the rare side of cooked and artificial tasting guacamole- i finished it but only as I was hungry!
The Mr wasn't blown away either by his burger.

I'm glad I went here as I was curious as to what the place offered but I won't be going back unfortunately.
They have some good food/drink offers on and a well stocked bar so will suit a lot of peoples tastes but it's not for me!

There's a few bars on Call Lane that I frequent quite often, and a few that I haven't been to for ages! Brooklyn is one of those that I can be found at pretty often..

They get a really good vibe going in here, even mid week when it's pretty quiet it still manages to maintain a chilled atmosphere.. due in part to the friendly bar staff and the atmosphere, and also the drinks deals!

If you're looking for a function room for a party then this is definitely a recommendation as they have a stylish upstairs bar & room that can be hired for free.

We ended up eating here by happy accident, having met the other half after work to do some holiday shopping we decided to eat out and tried to go to Red's but a two hour wait on a Wednesday was really not on. We strolled down call lane and chanced across this little beauty!

They were fairly quiet with a just three or four other tables in but I was in a mood for some meaty goodness having been dragged around endless generic clothes shops. The only initial disappointment was they had no draught lager on but with a decent selection of US bottled beers in I couldn't be too down heartened. Went for a Dixie and a Goose Island, both solid efforts. A minor gripe- not a single American wine on their drinks menu, it annoys me how little effort/imagination goes into wine lists especially for themed restaurants.

We shared the 'totem pole' of onion rings to put us on and they were tasty enough but the dips they came with were a bit generic, I would have preferred something a bit different to ketchup, sweet chilli and BBQ sauce.

Oniony icons aside the burgers are the big deal around here and they did not disappoint! I went for the Blues burger which was possibly the best burger I have ever had- and there have been a few! The missus went for the California burger which again was really good- I should know as I unashamedly finished it. They cook them slightly pink which might be a bit off putting for the less carnivorous amongst us but they taste so much better! Both came with skin on fries and we upgraded to the brioche rolls.

Really good place, staff were friendly and service swift. It was fairly cheap coming in just over £30 for dinner and drinks. Great burgers and some interesting beers what's not to like?

Good lively bar in the heart of the drinking scene on Call Lane. Funk, Soul and Rock n Roll DJ's play some great tunes that attract nice looking trendy party goers. Good cocktails. Doorstaff are friendly too unlike some other bars around the area.

Brilliant friendly staff. service was great and the food was delicious, the hot dogs are tasty well worth a visit.

I had a fantastic night here celebrating my 25th Birthday! Great Atmosphere, cool music and reasonably priced drinks! Definitely worth a visit!

Been a couple of times..now I have a kgb voucher so I'll try it again..good music, decent beer, although no wheat beer..shame
