Excellent Penne al pollo but the gluten free pasta is spaghetti! Crazy!!
My friends pizza was "alright". I would give five stars for the pasta but his pizza pulls down the mark.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Temporarily T.グラスゴー, イギリス2292016年6月26日
Very similar to some places in Glasgow: Good VFM lunch menu, genereous portions and food is nice, but not amazing.but I'd feel really bad giving them a just 'A OK' rating, as they are really nice and the place is so cosy (we had a table in the corner, where you get the sofa-seat thing) and great location and hey, I didn't get sick!**
** Do mind that if Italian cooking can give you the occasional heartburn I found the tomato sauce here a little more acidic, than let's say dimaggios or toni's.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype ユーザー (donnam…)Ayr, イギリス1452008年11月22日
This is a great it a typical italian restraunt which i highly recommended. The location sets it just off wellinton square and is whithin walking distance from the beach and the gaiety theatre. Parking is on the street opposite with lots of parking spaces.
It has recently been modernised and extented to make it a much larger restraunt. It is now more spacious and the tables feel less cramed in. It now has a new fresh modern look.
It is always been a very popular restraunt but this is due to the food and service. The food is typical italian but the menu is variable. It is really tasy and i highly reconmmend the macaroni cheese and the spagetti carbonara. The service is also really good and it is nice to be served fresh bread, oils and balsamic vinegar while chossing from the menu.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype ユーザー (gallo…)Aberdeen, イギリス3512008年11月28日
The Cecchini's restaurant has always been quite popular and had a pretty good reputation for as long as I can remember. Recently, it was completely refurbished and expanded. It lost some of the cosy, traditional feel it had before and went for a more open, contemporary look. Although the new look is a bit cold, it has at least helped them to move away from the small town italian restaurant cliche of venetian vases and grape vine stencils.
The food is as good as it ever was, although it has been poshed up a bit. The prices haven't changed much from what I remember and although it isn't exactly cheap, it is definitely worth paying that little bit extra for.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype ユーザー (danmar…)グラスゴー, イギリス12312010年8月16日
A well positioned and fitted out restaurant near to Ayr town centre, this longstanding Ayrshire restaurant was a bit mediocre when I ate there last week.
The service was particularly poor. We had to wait for 45 minutes for a desert which did not, in fact, ever materialise. This was greeted by lacklustre apologies from the waitresses.
The food was very average, and overpriced. Pizzas were laden with pseudo-mozzarella and somewhat stodgy. The antipasti selection could have (and regularly is) done better by Tesco.
The pints of Peroni were quite nice.
This is NOT a good restaurant based on my experience, and likely only persists due to it's lack of good competition locally.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype ユーザー (RTJone…)Ayr, イギリス4282011年3月21日

We have eaten at Ceccinis restaurants often over the years and have no qualms about recommending food and service to our visitors. The last time we were in Ayr we arrived on spec and were found a table on what was very obviously a very busy night. The food was excellent, as usual, and wine was at the perfect temperature. Atmosphere was bustling, those celebrating birthdays at other tables had the surprise of the whole restaurant being included in singing Happy Birthday which made everyone smile! Service was attentive but not intrusive. Decor is up to the minute, urban yet comfortable.

As is the norm in Scotland, service was slow. With that said, the food we had was very good. Had bruschetta for a starter which was very good. My wife had the chicken penne which was outstanding. I had spaghetti bolognese and a chocolate sundae for desert and couldn't have been happier. Would have surely been 5 stars if not for the slow service. Keep in mind though as Americans we expect more since our servers work strictly for tips. Definitely recommend this place!
