Charles Kivlin

Not very good. But take my hairdressing reviews with a little pinch of salt because I'm hard to be pleased when it comes to my hair because it never ever seems to look good.

But I didn't expect to come out Charles Kivlin with a squint fringe and frizzy ends. Don't just straighten them to oblivion, do something about it! How did you cut my hair frizzy? How did that even happen? The owner came over and was rather charming about it all but unless he was going to hang around me all day telling me I look good, the compliments inside the shop are no good to me.

It was similarly priced to Cheynes and Charlie Miller but isn't really up to the value. Sorry.

I came across ck hair online and decided to give them a go. I usually do my hair myself but having received bday money from my family i wanted to treat myself. I described what i wanted (highlights) including showing pictures of what i wanted. I found the staff to be very friendly however what they done to my hair was a nightmare. Instead of scatterd highlights i was given two huge white streaks at the front of my hair and blobs of white aroud the back. It was awful! Im not very confrontational so didnt say anything at the time (big mistake) and when i left i ran to my car and i cried for about ten mins I looked like a skunk . No wonder the blonde girl who was at the counter was staring at me in horror at what her colleague had done. I was so upset i had to go straight to boots to buy a dark brown to cover to cover up the mess. I showed my husband/friends the pics and they were shocked! What a waster of 80 odd pounds!. Im actually still in disbelif they let me leave their shop like that. :(

I've been here three times now and I've had great service / been really happy with the quality of cuts I've been given. On my first visit I saw a style on the website which I really liked and asked for a similar cut. The first cut I got was lovely but it wasn't very similar to what I'd seen so the owner offered to re-cut it for me for free and I was really happy with the results. It was such a good style that it lasted 4 months - and for a short cut that's pretty impressive! I went back yesterday and was equally happy with the style this time. It is expensive (especially when you choose the owner which I did!) but I'm happy to pay for a really good haircut - especially when you only need to have it done 4 times a year if it's done well. I think we've all become too used to the prices from deal sites and special offers which have their place but I'll return to this salon because it's hard to find a hairdresser who gives a great cut and really knows what they're doing. They also don't rush you out the door - I had a reastyle from really long to very short hair and they took time over it. I was offered 2 cups of tea / coffee, a mini minced pie and a glass of wine (which I turned down!) so a good effort for making you feel at home too!
