I love those places that are a little off the beaten track and out of the centre. You could very well pass this place by if you weren't careful, the unassuming entrance looks more like a shop front than a bar, and the only indication you're at the right place is the trademark 3 jam jars in the window.
I first came here 5 years ago, and still remember walking downstairs and being very surprised by what I found. Everything about this venue is so polished and so achingly cool, that you'd feel quite out of sorts if you don't look the part yourself. Luckily though, it is pretty small and dark down there, so once the place gets bouncing (and it gets very 'jammed' very fast) there's less of a feeling of pretense.
The best part about this place is the prices: £3 for salads, £10 for curries and classic cocktails at £7, you really can't complain. I'm always surprised too by the DJ line up too, with founder Ben Watt having booked acts like the Libertines and Groove Armada. Check the website for also for art exhibitions and performance evenings.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype ユーザー (daniel…)ロンドン, イギリス1270472008年1月17日
Over the years, Cherry Jam has built up a reputation as a good quality venue for musical showcases, live performances, intimate club based events and even poetry or book reading.
The venue, as it sounds is decorated with a cherry red flavour, combined with metallic floors, tables, sofas and various other kinds of comfortable seating. Cherry Jam is a restaurant combined with a small club, with a very generous cocktail list. The restaurant is open during the day time as well as in the evenings. Check it out!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - robert t.ロンドン, イギリス432009年4月20日
Well, I don't work at Cherry Jam,
...but I do think it's the most dull club I've ever been to.
Luckily I was in good company so I avoided suffering any permanent brain damage.
The need to dumb things down for Saturday night punters is no excuse for the tepid atmosphere and withering elevator music in this place, lasting well past drunk o'clock.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - ad K.San Jose, アメリカ合衆国3211632009年7月22日
I've been to Cherry Jam a few times and have always had a good time. The music has always been spot on, and you will probably think so to if you like your beats funky and even a little housey at times.
Stop moaning if you haven't done your research, figure out who is playing - or better yet.. pick up a phone and ask: 'what kind of music is on tonight'.
If you don't like what you find/hear, then don't come!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Caren H.ロンドン, イギリス3759492010年6月26日
Had a big to-do because we weren't on the guest list, but finally got in only to find an empty place. But as it sporadically filled up with a very random crowd, it was nearly impossible to get a drink.
The space is cool--little tables, a dance floor, separate area for a bar. The DJ was ehhh....kind of did this weird Frank Sinatra-esque interlude with more clubby music. Not cool....one minute you are swing dancing and the next minute bumpin' and grinding. But why go out in Bayswater anyway?Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Chris G.ロサンゼルス, アメリカ合衆国135397752013年7月12日
A cool addition to a barren part of town!
It really is a destination establishment - you are unlikely to stumble across it. I guess, the best way that I can describe Cherry Jam is "loud, shouty and dancey". Apparently, they do offer some food here. Tapas in fact. Not that I can ever recall ever seeing anyone eat here during any of my visits.
I must say, I do like the decor here. Funky and well lit, it does provide a nice atmosphere for your evening's activities.
Types of music do vary, but I would class it as "loud generic dance".
According to Cherry Jam's website, they have "one of the best sound systems in London." Slightly hard to substantiate. But yeah. Thanks.
Probably 3.5 stars. But I rounded down.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Joseph P.ロンドン, イギリス083682008年11月17日1番にレビュー!
West London hotspot, Cherry Jam combines a bar with a restaurant that serves a variety of International and Japanese dishes in a vibrant and exciting atmosphere. They have live music / DJ's playing every night as additional entertainment. SURPRISINGLY drinks and food are actually affordable, which is amazing for West London. The atmosphere in Cherry Jam is exactly in it's name you can Jam and relax. Catering for private parties is also available as I was told of up to 150 guests is available upon request.
