The Coronet Cinema is reminiscent of the Moulin Rouge in Paris. With majestic decor, predominantly keeping to the central theme of burgendy and gold, this venue can be used as concert hall, for musical showcases and theatre productions aswell as for screening the latest blockbuster movie.
The Coronet screens a 'pick n' mix' selection of mainstream releases, one off screenings, classics and films from independent film makers. In this sense, the Coronet is gaining a reputation for being a place where culture vultures enjoy making a beeline for. Check it out, there'll always be something on for everyone. Membership is available, check the website for further details.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jessica K.Washington, DC, アメリカ合衆国4426562011年11月7日
I've been here twice and find the cinema charming and effective. Even at full price (£7.50) it's cheaper than most cinemas in town, and they offer matinee pricing before 6:30 (£4.50) and discounted £3.50 tickets for students on Monday and everyone on Tuesday. Sweet.
There are two screens- screen 1 is in the vintage theater with multiple levels and screen 2 is a standard setup.
The seats are incredibly uncomfortable... like they're stuffed with the original horse hair kind of uncomfortable. But the picture and sound have been up to par for the two movies I saw, so it's a give and take, I suppose.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Vicky L.ロンドン, イギリス176239442009年4月15日
I love the coronet- I really do! It is literally the only place I go to the cinema in London- the almost theatre like feel makes it so special and not to mention cheap Tuesdays! I don't even care I am sponsoring a church when I come (it's good for the local community, blah blah!)
however, today as we watched the world's most tediously long movie, I realised one thing- the seats are DEAD uncomfortable! I never noticed because I was actually watching the movie, but today with the lack of proper distraction, my friend and I could just not get comfortable- the only position that i was comfy in was slumped with my head on the chair and 1 foot up and his position was both feet up, so 1 saw 3/4 screen and 1 leg for about 1/2 the movie (which didn't matter, i nearly fell asleep in an action packed whatever that movie wanted itself to be).
I know the chairs are all part of the charm, but I'd recommend bringing a pillow or something. Or may be just choosing a movie engrossing enough not to make you notice that you were super duper uncomfortable.
* Another hint, if no one is rushing/ queueing to buy tickets on cheap tuesday, the film is probably not worth seeing. Today was the first quiet tuesday i've been to and honestly, the movie on par with Masters and Commanders for a girl or the titanic for boys. And then some.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Becky B.ロンドン, イギリス427752009年4月15日
I agree with everyone else a wonderful local cinema with great prices. I remember seeing The Little Mermaid here 20+ years ago and it looks/smells the same. But that is a large part of the charm and beats the more generic cinemas where you pay almost £10.
It also makes a great conference/party venue, a lot more drama than you're get at the local hotel etc in Theatre 1.

imagine having two epic old cinemas literally a stone's throw from each other. Such is the long-standing brilliance of Notting Hill and the rich cultural seam which can still be mined here.
So, I came here to see Waltz with Bashir, which was amazing. It was on a Tuesday, so such a cheap ticket (and thus, it was full of other people taking them up on this brilliant offer!). It looks just like a theatre, just with a screen on the stage. And I love the opulence of the experience, just a plush historic venue makes the ideal setting for such a contemporary film. I've never seen Notting Hill the film (And I don't want to) but this has to be one of the finest cinema experiences there are to be had in London.

A banged up old cinema that shows the newest releases and some old classics at a decent price... On Mondays students pay £3.50 and Tuesdays that price for everybody. When compared to VUE & Odeon prices (£10+++) it's a bargain.
It's free seating so get there on time, especially if you want to sit together...Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - AL D.パリ, フランス73243212011年9月15日
I went there for the great price on tuesday, £3.50!
The theater is gorgeous but I didn't enjoy the movie because some lights were still on!
The lights at the door stay on throughout the movie, so you could see the whole room, and that's just a no no for me.
and the chairs not very comfortable.
So even for £3.50, I wouldn't go back because I prefer to have my cinema experience in the dark!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Alan W.ロサンゼルス, アメリカ合衆国53955372010年10月12日
Nice little theater with some standout features.
They have a student night Monday where you can see a movie for only 3.50 and get any treat at the counter for 1.50.
Tell any American viewer these prices and they would probably laugh in disbelief. We have 3D Imax tickets pushing above 15 bucks a pop and popcorn over 6 bucks.
Here I order a popcorn for 1.50 and they actually gave me the large rather than the small! Pretty great.
While the theatre(both the size of the screen and the seating area) were much smaller than I'm used it was still easy to watch and enjoy the movie.
I will definitely be back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ashley V.San Leandro, アメリカ合衆国2554821592012年6月23日
Affordable lovely local theatre. Plus a special tuesday night deal with £3.50 tickets!
I was warned about the seating (thanks Vicky L!) but it wasn't that bad, especially since I ended up watching a really good movie, we were sat there for 2 hours and lost track of time!
The bathrooms are a bit smelly and awkward. I don't want to need so many road signs to get to the loo.
I didn't get to test out the balcony yet though.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
