I been here before when this used to be Aglasso and were devastated when it closed as with the mix of bars in this area that don't suit my taste Aglasso hit the nail on the head.

      Welcome oh Welcome Dish!!!

Having nearly an hour to kill prior to needing to be in the Carriageworks we dropped into dish.

The interior reminds me more of a dining room than a formal bar or restaurant.
Quirky padded window seats, feature fireplace, small or large tables to accommodate all party sizes and a piano which I'm reliably informed does actually feature in the life of the place.

We sat in a raised table adjacent to the food prep area and the snug bar so we had a great watching place.

My friend had arrived slightly before me and ordered so as I sat I was presented with a lovely chilled Prosecco and him a very deep and fruity red wine.

The atmosphere was very laid back and a party of diners (8) seemed to be having a lovely time.

We browsed the very attractive food and drinks menu which offer something tasty and suitable for all types.
The food highlights good local ingredients with a tasty flair and is presented with love (believe me- I saw the effort the chef and sous put in).
The kitchen is tiny yet well organised so its a miracle these dishes get so well put out.

As well as the fab food and drink menu (with special 'set menu' offers) there is also a 'nibbles' menu which I absolutely LOVE the idea of.
Some days you don't want to just eat dinner- some days i like to pick!

I chose 'pickled chillies', 2 oysters and a pork pie with chutney.
Wow, all hit the spot and well accompanied our 2nd lot of drinks wonderfully.
(they also do pork scratching's which I will definitely be back to test!)

The food which was presented out to the diners looked soooooo nice I kept loosing thread of the conversation we were having!!!

if you join their mailing list you get 10% voucher off food and as we'd done that there and then when we got our bill they'd given us the 10% off which was nice.

This is the kind of place you could have a nice girly dinner, take the in-laws or have an intimate dinner for 2. i'd also be tempted to check out there fab cocktail menu.

So sad to see Aglasso go but so glad to see Dish in its place!

Having rushed a quick bite pre-concert, post event we were looking for somewhere decent that still served late. It was gone 9.30pm, so we rushed here and fortunately managed to catch the last service - as luck would have it there was a table for two right there waiting for us. Having been here previously, when it was still Aglassto, I was hoping that the cool ambience still remained. And sure enough, it has. The space itself is gorgeous. It feels like a Victorian living room, with a quaint fireplace, piano at the entrance, a snug bar area around the back and limited dining tables within the main space.

The service, throughout, was excellent. We were seen to swiftly and in a very friendly manner, and managed to order really quickly and grab a drink. The chap was great when we asked to nip out for a cig before eating, and came and found us when our food arrived, which was really lovely of him! Whilst the menu is small, it all reads really well, so I'm keen to return to try some of the other dishes. The wines, dessert wines, puddings and other bits all sound excellent too, but on this occasion we were defeated by one main course.

I had the slow cooked lamb and polenta, which was really very good. We had a side of greens to accompany, which were perfectly cooked, and the whole experience was a treat. I can't quite put my finger on what was missing, perhaps that I've realised I'm not so much of a polenta fan, but I'm sure it was more a taste thing than a quality thing. As I've said, I certainly want to come back to try more of their menu items! Another bonus is that it was really reasonable for what I'd consider edging into the fine dining arena. Basically, go and try it for yourself - it's a fantastic little spot, with truly lovely staff. (And let me know what you think!)

The quality of this venue is clear from its successes during it's first year of business, with winning the best newcomer in the Oliver awards followed shortly after by their moving into the new venue (former Anthony's).

I visited along with a group of 33 others as part of my (never ending) Xmas celebrations, and we certainly weren't disappointed.

Some of us arrived slightly early to take advantage of their 241 cocktails offer (between 5pm - 7pm, check it out!) - you can see the 'Carnival' cocktail in the photo's from the venue, absolutely fruity loveliness. They had a great selection to choose from, so I'm already looking forward to my next visit! I was pleasantly surprised by the bar prices for somewhere as swanky looking as here, with the cocktail (remember 241!) at around £7.50. I also bought a bottle of wine for under £16!

For starter I had the more beautiful portobello tortellini, not a massive portion, but probably about right as part of a 3 course meal! This wasn't just a plate of pasta parcels, given the array of additions & flavours of the dish.. just check out the photo!

Main course for me was something that I would never have imagined I'd see on a menu, with a massive portion of '3 beetroot risotto' with goats cheese bites. it sounds whacky to put beetroot with rice, but don't knock it til you try it!

I rounded this off with a chocolate & cherry fondant, washed down with a citrus prosecco cocktail.

Try it - you won't be disappointed!

Quickly nipped into the bar here for dinner before heading back to London on the train. This is a new fine dining venue in Leeds, opened around a year ago I think. It's classy, tasteful, trendy and has a relaxing atmosphere.

The service was excellent, so attentive the barman attended to me as soon as I came in the door. I was originally going to choose from the bar menu but he told me they were no longer serving that. He did, however, tell me I could choose from the early bird menu from the restaurant. I let him know my time was a bit tight but he assured me I would get everything in time.

I looked at the drinks menu while I waited for him to return. They had an interesting and appealing range of cocktails but it wasn't what I was looking for. a glass of dry white wine did the trick and it wsas excellent.

From the bar menu I had the asparagus and poached egg for starters. This was delicious and perfectly cooked. For the main I had the chicken breast with red wine gravy. It was heavenly and very, very rich. I have to admit I questioned the combination of red wine gravy with chicken but it was so rach it just would have been too, too heavy with red meat. The only drawback to the meal was that the gravy had tinged the chicken purple, but that was minor it was such a good meal. For desert I had the poached pear. Again delicious and perfectly cooked. finshed that off with a coffee and it all came under £25!! ...and I made my train.

The barman assured me the al carte menu was even better!

I'll definitely be coming back here when I'm next in Leeds.

I went here with a burger voucher on my birthday last week. It was my first visit and I'm pretty sure it won't be my last. I loved the decor, especially the books holding the menus on the table. My voucher was specifically for burgers so I only glanced at the rest of the menu, but the sandwich section in particular seemed very reasonable, only six pounds each. That may seem a lot for a sandwich, but if it's anywhere near the quality and presentation of the burger, it's well worth it.

The burger was so plump, with a chunky toasted ciabatta roll, that I was a little concerned that I would have to tackle it with a knife and fork like a nincompoop. Fortunately I was able to wedge it into my mouth. My burger was venison, because I'm fancy, and came with a generous slice of gherkin, a piquant mayo and a giant chilli (which I did not eat). The sides were thyme wedges and a beautifully spiced beetroot. The wedges were slightly overdone for my taste, but I ate them all. Obviously.

The pre-theatre menu also looks fantastic. Smoked mash? I'm in!

Went here last week with some friends and had a great meal. I'd not noticed it before ( I think it has just opened), just off Millenium square on the way to the Town Hall.

They have a great value "pre-theatre" menu consisting of two or three courses (or three plus wine) and a delicious modern British menu with a good mixture of local meat and fish dishes. I hade some wild boar for starter and then duck for mains. Others had chicken, fish and pork belly which they were equallt pleased with. The sweet potato mash with nutmeg was really smooth and creamy and all the dishes were full of flavour. We all had room for dessert and the panacotta was the winner with the chocolate coming a close second.

It is a small and cosy setting with a relaxed atmosphere and good service, you may well need to book though as there are not many tables.

This place... This place is the place to go for high quality rich food!

The service, the food, the atmosphere, the location, they're all ideal for a spot on night.

Be aware it is romantic downstairs with candle lit tables and piano playing but when you are firmly not on a date they're happy to serve you in the bright and buzzing upstairs bar.

Prices are higher than average but so are the portion sizes. (It is a bargain with the 241 offer with a tastecard).

I recommend you visit this restaurant immediately!
