Glasgow Youth Hostel

This has to be the nicest hostel I have ever stayed in. I am blown away by it!

The rooms are tidy, linen is provided, there is a Wi-Fi lounge and a tv room, there are toilets a plenty, self catering fully stocked kitchen, laundry, and more!

They are environmentally conscious and offer power saving outlets, recycling, compost, and etc.

The staff is friendly and very helpful. The other people in the hostel were quiet, tidy, and nice.

We greatly enjoyed our stay here. Definitely worth the extra money to stay in a hostel this nice!

I think the most important thing when it comes to staying in a hostel is a clean room and a working shower. Glasgow Youth Hostel has both.

The staff was very friendly and welcoming. This made checking in an easy and stress free exerience.

They also had a locked room where we could store our cycles indoors which helped us a lot.

My only complaint was that the wifi cost 1 pound for an hour and most every other hostel we have stayed at had free wifi.

Nice place to sit, this hostel is next to a big park and in one of the better neighborhoods of Glasgow. If you walk out of the hostel and will find a place without trees: you have a great view on the city!!! The building itself is kinda old, so a lot of wooden-stairs with green, clean carpeting.

The rooms aren't big and there is only a curtain between the shower and the room, but it is clean. The shower is seperated from the bathroom: in there is a toilet and a washstand and you have door which you can close. The lockers can be use. The rooms gets cleaned every day(morning).

The employees are so helpful!
Hard of hearing or deaf people can get a alarm-clock for waking you up and which also will be use as fire-alarm!!! Just ask the reception, they actually know how it's works!!
Also ask the reception for a cheap place to eat, a good fish and chips, the best way how to walk (into the park) which bus or underground you better could take into the city or to go outside the city.
We didn't try out the breakfast, so I can't say anything about that.
But we did use the BIG washing machines: if you see those, you know that you're in a YH, because a group of 4 or 6 person can use one washing machine for all their dirty stuff and it still not full:P.
Their also dryers and a drying room. The room is hot, there are bars on the wall so you can hang you're dry closings on it. Within a day the clothing are dry. We aw also an ironing board with flat-iron, so if you want to use those for free, it is possible.

Reason why this youth hostel doesn't get 5 stars: There is no free wifi and you can't print out you flight tickets or other stuff.

But you can sit relax with a book, you telephone or with a paper on the living room, on one of the relax bench, seats, with or without table, use one of the 2 computers for internet(buy a card on the reception). And if you don't have anything to read, with you: they have books on this living room as well. (mostly in English).

The shower room in our 4 bed room was a tad nippit but otherwise absolutely no complaints about comfort, service or security. We were also lucky enough to have a fantastic view south towards The Clyde and beyond.
