So we were done with our sightseeing and we decided to take a small trip to Wannsee. If you're in Berlin for more than 2 days it's worth the train and metro ride to Wannsee. It's so beautiful so relaxing the views are amazing. Reminded me of DC in the winter or the east coast. The colors on the trees the greenery everything was beautiful plus you get to see where hitler and his closes soldiers the made the biggest decision. On January 20, 1942, high-ranking members of the SS, the police force, the government administration and the National Socialist German Workers' Party (the NSDAP or Nazi party) met to discuss the "final solution of the Jewish question" in the Villa Minoux on the Greater Wannsee, the guesthouse of the Security Police and the Security Service SD. This is a must see because its history now and a Memorial.

Located in the beautiful and quiet Wannsee neighborhood, situated among big houses and trees, is the Wannsee-Konferenz. It was a meeting point for senior officials of Nazi Germany, held in the Berlin in the quaint suburb of Wannsee. The Wannsee House, site of the conference, is now a Holocaust Memorial. The Holocaust memorial serves now also as a document center because the museum shows permanent exhibits of texts and photographs that document events of the Holocaust and its gruesome planning. It is a strange feeling to be at such a beautiful place, singing birds, smelling flowers, sunshine lurking through the trees yet the most gruesome planning of the murdering of Jews has been planned here.

I would give it five stars a) for the location b) historical background c) the entrance is free BUT the staff at the reception is absolutely rude to customers, unfriendly and honestly should not work there, if she does not know how to provide customer service. But despite this completely rude receptionist, this place is still a must and beautiful.

Truly excellent this Villa has been preserved as a
memorial site. In the exhibition in the rooms of the villa, visitors will find
documentation on the systematic deportation and killing of European Jews, and
the protocol of the conference by Adolf Eichmann. I appreciate they did not
turn the Villa into a multimedia experience. Rooms are left as bleak as they
are and it translates well into what happened. The memorial site is a 20 min
walk from Wannsee train station. Admission is free.

This is one those places that's both beautiful and terrifying at the same time. Here, on 20 January 1942, a conference was held to discuss the implementation of the nazi "final solution to the Jewish question". If you're in Berlin or nearby I think it's your duty as a human being to visit this place and learn what took place here. This place is easily accessible via S-bahn from Berlin and then a short bus ride from the Wannzee station. The entrance is free, but they do encourage you to donate a sum (2€ is suggested). Audio guides are available for 3€. One minor complaint I have is that the informational texts, of which there were many, were a bit too compact (if that's the correct word) with text in different languages. It all sort of blended together and after a while it got kind of frustrating trying to find the English text. Finally I can recommend the 2001 movie 'Conspiracy' with among others, Kenneth Branagh and Stanley Tucci. An excellent movie that is about the conference that took place here.

This museum, site of the Wannsee Conference where the Final Solution was planned, has exhibits on various aspects of the war against the Jews. The villa itself is beautiful and located in a beautiful setting on the Wannsee. It's hard to imagine how anything so horrifying could have come out of such a cultured environment. It's very interesting for anyone interested in that period in history.
