Matalan

For those of you who like Pri-mark you will like Matalan.

A huge store in the Kingsland Shopping mall. Over two floors of clothes for men and women and a huge home-ware department.
The home-ware department is useful for tea-towels, oven mitts, plates and mugs. Some with rather elegant patterns and colours. Rubbish bins, cushions, pillows and duvets.

I needed to buy a load of cheap photo frames to spray paint for a project I was working on. They had an amazing selection of all shapes sizes and materials.

You will also be quite surprised that some of the prints and wall hangings are rather nice.

However for the clothes department...The cheap run of the mill fabrics and styles have never really been my thing. But I think it is very useful for children who are always getting muddy and ripping and staining their clothing!!

Friends in the past have said that their swimwear, surprisingly, was quite good - so check out the swimwear collection next summer!

Matalan inhabits its own custom built extension to the back of Kingsland Shopping Centre. It's the perfect place for this store, selling cheap clothes mainly, but also gifts and household goods. It's the sort of place you maybe feel a little guilty shopping at, as you have to wonder how they make the stuff so cheap. But, if you want, it's pretty good for basics like cheap leggings, jeans, sparkly tops etc. Always worth a look for Christmas presents too. I also buy 'USA Athletics' socks for running in, and have done marathons in them without trouble. Might not suit everyone, but at £1.50 a pair they are considerably cheaper than 'proper' running socks and still feature smooth seams, padding and extra fitting features. They also have very appealing stuff like ornaments, cushions and cookware. Actually it's often worth a rummage for a surprise or two.


The changing rooms are OK, though I did once find something horrible on the curtain of my cubicle. It often seems under-staffed: often there's only a couple of the big row of tills open and a big queue. You get what you pay for though!

Right at the back of the Kingsland Road shopping Centre, this Matalan store is big with two floors. The first floor you enter has the Ladies wear and upstairs is menswear. Matalan is another great place to shop for variety of things and not just clothes. I particularly like their kitchenware section because they have some very pretty dinner sets at very reasonable price.


They also have very nice shoes for work and evening shoes at great prices. You definitely get value for money at Matalan. I don't really buy many clothes from this store because I think they have lines for the more mutual, which is great. This particular store is well organised but the problem sometimes is finding staff to assist you.


Matalan is a place to shop for the family and the house, you can buy toys and clothes for the kids and the men can also find something for them.

A nice store to grab a bargain. Everything from clothing to household items. Plenty of tills (if they are all staffed) A busy store with loads of items. Make sure to have time to have a mooch.
