A small regional museum. The castle can clearly be seen from quite a lot of the city. Very nice friendly people, no signs from the city to say how to find the entrance.

After 14 months working in a building right next to the Castle, on my final day in Norwich I decided that I would finally go and take a look at this classic piece of architecture.
However, I was defeated by the £6.60 entrance price. No thanks! I did take the opportunity to wander the outside and got a few great pictures. The Castle Green is also a good spot for a picnic lunch.
They do have a deal from 4:00 to 5:00 - an hour for a pound, but I couldn't hang around that long.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 02010年9月17日以前のレビューHidden in open view, the Norwich Castle garden surrounds the castle itself and is atop the Castle Mall. Off to the side of the main entrance to the mall, there's an open iron gate that leads to a winding path that is park of the original castle ditch. Quiet and peaceful, it's very easy to skip right on past it.
There are entrances at the west end of the Mall as well as through the Castle and even through a door at the top level of the Mall near the food court.
Since it's at the top of the Castle hillside, there are great views of the Castle itself as well as the surrounding area. In the warmer months, I'm quite sure this makes a nice place for a picnic. - Siobhan B.Melbourne, オーストラリア3558112015年9月13日
Beautiful and historic castle with loads of different exhibitions and hands on activities. I went with a 7 year old who absolutely loved it. Highlights were the presentation about weapons and armor which allowed the children to try on buts of armor and hold weapons, the dungeon with hands on activities, and the areas dedicated to different periods in history and local animals. Totally recommended it, especially if you are interested in history and/or have children to amuse.

Norwich Castle is in the city of Norfolk ,England.. Norwich is also the capital of Norfolk... It was also one of the largest towns in England and has earned the honor of becoming the first in England to be admitted to the World League of Historical Cities.....along side places like Paris , Vienna, Prague,Barcelona, Budapest and Rome. It will also be the site of the 2012 Olympics.
Like most castles in England...it has a history of its own. Erected in the 11th century earthwork motte and baileys fortress....It was founded by King William 1. The next centuries that followed .additions of Sone castle, huge ornate keep, drum towers and gatehouse were added with a drawbridge and a stone bridge that spans the dry bridge. . It remains a museum and art gallery today and contains many of the original exhibits. Medieval Norwich has 57 churches within city walls and 31 still exist today.
I don't know what it is but going through the castle gave me the goose bumps throughout the tour.....especially when I came across the prison walls...and the dungeons.....visitors can see chains and shackles used on prisoners in the castle, a pair of stocks, a scolds bridle, a gibbets iron and death masks of the murderes hanged in the castle. ...its very very eery..........
The centuries old Cast window of the Castle still one of the marvels of Norwich....perpendicular instyle and skilfully built. It is located in the city centre, off Castle Meadow. It is open daily from 10:00 - 4:30 and 10:00 o 5:00 Saturday's and Sundays.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 9Oh no 0 - Jp R.North Charleston, アメリカ合衆国02942018年2月7日
If you only have time to see one thing, see the cathedral instead of the castle. It was pretty cool to see the keep and the brief history of its use, but the rest of it was quite confusing as to what was open and what was broken. I got turned around several times and got lost in a basement gallery. It needs a complete revamp, new signage, and I wish they would wait to set up for events until after closing hours.

This place has everything - it's an incredible castle for one, but it also has a crazy museum attached. It just keeps going and going!! For the price of admission (can't remember now but it's reasonable) you get to wander freely through the castle and its associated exhibits of weapons, artifacts, paintings, etc (and you're allowed to go up & down a rad spiral staircase AND you can take photos!). The exhibits are well arranged and described. Then of you continue into the additional museum areas, there's SO MUCH stuff to see - art, ancient Roman, Egyptian, & Celtic relics, wildlife, fossils, pottery....I was just expecting a dank old castle so this was a very pleasant surprise!

I find it difficult to believe nobody has reviwed this recently. We have a Norfolk Museum pass so my son and I often call in for a look around while the 'girls' are shopping.
Every visit uncovers something new, it might be a new exhibition or a new activity. I am so pleased that it has made him enjoy exploring history.
Pay a visit and see if you agree - then write a review to tell everyone else.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype ユーザー (hypno0…)Norwich, イギリス14702008年11月15日
You cannot fail to notice the amazing building that is Norwich Castle - perfectly in proportion and standing beautifully on Castle Meadow, just looking at it from the outside is enough for me!
Step inside, though, and you get a glimpse of life gone by, complete with Dungeons, hands on activities for all ages, and displays complete with back up information so you continue to learn!
Your visit can include time in the gift shop and coffee shop, and you really can spend all day there if you wish.
A tip if time is short, is to go in the last hour of opening, when you can get in for just £1.....a bargain if you have children with a small attention span!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype ユーザー (dan_…)Norwich, イギリス3452008年11月19日
A constant reminder of the cities medieval past, Norwich Castle gives an incredible insight into how the city has been shaped over many hundreds of years.
The castle keep itself is great for kids to explore, and for big kids taking the battlement and dungeons tour is a must, as the views (from the former) and stories (from the latter) are really interesting.
Leading out from the keep itself you also have the art gallery, with its extensive collection of works from the Norwich School. And also the animal collection of stuffed creatures from around the world, which keeps children entertained for hours. You can easily spend a good three or four hours in there, and the great thing about it is that it bears repeat visits. Simply because they cram so much of interest into such a small place.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
