Old Mexico

A really good friend of mine told me about this place I had to trade out great prices great food great customer service super friendly ! Must try highly recommend , I did go before all this crazy madness so I'm not sure about the hours or The buffet ! Once everything gets back to normal I will definitely be back!

I have had a lot of taco salads in my life. The taco salad at this place is absolutely amazing. Fresh and plentiful and delicious!!! I dream about the next time I am in Buena Park and order another one.

The inside is old and charming. It looks like an old Denny's or diner.

They have an all you can eat buffet which was pretty good too.

Two of us ate for under 25.00 with drinks.

Chips and salsa bar were amazing.

Super friendly and efficient server too.

Easy in and out parking.

I have no idea how I found this place but I drove really far to get there lol and I left happy. I am not a fan of Mexican food but somehow I'm always writing reviews about it and how I don't like it.

Well this place is different. If you are Mexican (I guess you don't even have to be Mexican to get this) you'll know what I mean when I say YOUR NANA'S COOKING. Well clearly this isn't just like my Nana or your Nana's cooking but it sure as hell is deathly close to it. I left happy and called my nana as soon as I got home.

The Parking - very limited and be careful where you do park because there are towing signs everywhere.

The Staff - very sweet polite workers

Its kinda a rough area of town so make sure you lock your car but other than than HEAD ON OVER! Don't forget to call your nana when you get home !!

Came in on a Saturday morning looking for some menudo. Food is okay and the fresh made tortillas are thick and super good!!
Mostly families as the buffet is probably a good option if you have multiple little ones.
Overall not too bad.....just try not to get jacked in the parking lot!!

You have a choice between ordering off the menu or the buffet. I can never make up my mind, so I went with the buffet. $14 including drink was a good value.

They bring you chips, two types of salsa, and pickled jalapenos. You have a choice of handmade corn tortillas or flour tortillas brought to your table.

The buffet had a small salad bar with two more types of salsa. There are make your own hard tacos (though I guess you could make soft ones with the tortillas they bring to your table but those are bigger than a taco size) There are also flautas (chicken and bean?), taco fillings like ground beef, chopped chicken, and carnitas. Then there is chicken mole (legs and thighs), beef barbacoa, chicken verde, calabacitas with onions, chicken fajitas, cheese enchiladas, nopales, and home fries (potatoes). They had a couple of breakfast items like pancakes, french toast, mini churros, and made to order pancakes. They also had a pasta with meat sauce, chicken soup, and menudo. Lastly they had three desserts (jello, a flan type thing, and a cake).

Most everything I tried was pretty good. The chicken fajitas and calabacitas were excellent. The barbacoa was pretty tasty and the omelet well cooked. The enchiladas had a good sauce but too little filling. The desserts were atrocious.

I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again. But if I'm in the area, I'll definitely be back.

This is a very nice place to eat, not to loud, very clean, environment friendly..
The price is not to bad, the attendant it's so nice and she is always checking if you need anything else.
Definitely my place to eat peacefully.

I'm not sure how this place got 4 stars. I feel bad leaving reviews like this, but that's what Yelp is for. The food, mediocre. It was not amazing like everyone on here claimed. The inside is very humble, nothing fancy. Every one sits family style meaning you share tables with people who aren't part of your party. On Sunday's they have brunch and you can order off of the menu. My aunt got the Menudo and she didn't even touch it. Someone ordered the enchiladas, not a fan. Huevos rancheros, plain and lacked flavor. Steak & eggs, steak had no flavor and was like rubber. This was not true authentic Mexican food. I brought family from out of state here in hopes that i found a hidden gem but no one was happy with their food sadly. I will say this, our waitress was extremely nice and attentive to us.

Very unassuming on the outside, not the greatest decor on the inside. But for this particular instance I was hunting for something specific. Authentic Mexican food. Not some adulterated American dish that claims to be Mexican. The goal was real deal authentic Mexican. This place delivered huge.

They offer a typical menu of the expected Mexican fare, enchiladas, burritos, fajitas and so on. They also have a counter to place to-go orders. And last but not least, they offer a buffet setup for a reasonable price. While the rest of my group went for the typical menu, I zoned in on that buffet. What better way to get a variety of offerings? With enchiladas, chili verde, chicken fajitas, carnitas and several other items, I was in heaven. The corn tortillas are made in house, they looked to be pressed when ordered, so that's pretty damn fresh.

All in all I'm glad I stopped here. The food was great. the menu ordered portions were huge and plated very nicely. While it doesn't look like much on the outside, if the food is your focus, this place kills it.

I would have never got to come to this place if my roomie didn't get a phone call from her mom while we were driving. We then pulled up to this parking lot and just gave this place a try!

I have to say the name sounded kinna cute to me and I wanted to go into this place. It looked like such a hole in the wall.

We were really feeling like eating some nachos but while looking over the menu I couldn't find any!

The waitress asked if I needed some help which I guess I sure did and asked her if she had any chicken nachos available. She said yes she will bring us a order.

Wow this was huge and fresh avocado guacamole did me in! I fell in loved with it. The salsa was pretty tasty too but one thing that I wasn't really a fan was the chicken. I thought it kind of tasted a little bit unflavored and too chewy.

But besides that I did really enjoy my nachos!! :) The portion was the right size for sharing and it was under five bucks! OMG CHEAP and this is a deal.

Read the review on here and thought I'd go give it a try as I really wanted some menudo. Also read of the buffet and one that's hard to find in a Mexican restaurant. It's kinda hidden but with pictures and signage I had an idea of location and that did help, thanks to other reviews.

I walked in was greeted and sat down, didn't have to wait long for waitress and was asked if I was going to order the buffet or off the menu, asked how much buffet and she said 10 bucks and with drinks about 13.50. That's not bad at all. But I wanted a big bowl of menudo and when she brought it, BIG Bowl it was.

Asked about something to drink, and then I asked if from powder and she said no they make them daily. Ordered agua de Tamarindo and it was perfect.

I found the menudo to be nearly perfect, taste was good, meat was plentiful and so was maíz. And the chips and salsa were great. Salsa nice and hot.

I'll be back for sure to check the buffet and rest of menu.
