Pilot Boat Inn

Sit outside on their upstairs deck if the weather is nice. We had the crab sandwich, salad (too many sun dried tomatoes!), chips and a couple of beers. They have mixed up the Palmers pale ale and IPA.

Decent food, friendly service.

We stayed overnight here last Monday and were very happy with our room. The inn has only has 3 rooms; ours had partial sea view and was well equipped with fresh milk and free beer in the fridge, Nespresso machine, fudge, dyson fan, very large tv, large bathroom with double sinks and walk in shower, and very pleasantly decorated, I particularly liked the shelf with old books and rocks and fossils that had been found on the beach.
Excellent breakfast included "order anything you like", so we did, each ordered 3 things, all excellent plus lattes. For dinner I had locally sourced grilled Hake and my wife had pork belly, both excellent so we ate far too much.
The restaurant was well staffed, all wearing striped shirts so easy to spot, and very friendly. Prices were reasonable for the quality of food.
The manager of the inn was great, and I would strongly recommend staying here if you can get a room. In fact, owners of other seaside hotels we have stayed in would benefit from staying here just to see how it should be done!

This is a pub pretty much right on the sea front. Had many meals here during my stay. The food is delicious with a wide variety and reasonably priced. Also a wide selection of desserts, starters and drinks. There is plenty of room here although it gets quite full, probably because the food is so good.
The portions are also big so for a home cooked hearty meal visit the boat inn!

Poppped in one wet Sunday afternoonn for something to eay, thankfully they served food all day, something most of the other pubs in down didn't!
I chose the ploughmans lunch which was called some other name which I don't recall and cost about £7, be warned Lyme Regis does not do cheap eats, one pub (The Cobb Inn) was charging £8 for burger and chips!
The lunch was a fair size though most of the plate was taken up by the wedge of brown bread, pity we were supplied with the usual underwhelming portion of hard butter (a favourite trait of the UK pub/restauarant).Cheddar and Stilton cheese, pickled onions, coleslaw, fruit chutney (very tasty too) and a rather small portion of salad (lettuce, cucumber, tomato) came with the lunch.
Not a bad meal but nothing special.

A nice friendly pub in the centre of a lovely seaside town. The pilot boat offers pub meals at a reasonable price. There is nothing particularly over the top but it is pleasant enough and I have never had to complain. They are friendly and quick and if you want a cheapish but good meal then go there.
