We first visited Sherborne in 2002 and while we visit the Cotswolds a few times per month, we had failed to return until a sunny Sunday in August 2011 when we made the 1hr 15 min journey from Bham via M40 and Moreton and Stow.
There are some good National Trust walks in the area and the NT web site recommended the Sherborne shop for refreshments so we decided to start off with lunch there and then walk.
Parking was easy on the road and we were lucky that one of the 3 tables on the lawn out front had emptied while we were placing our order.
I went for a platter which came with pates, olives, 'saucission' and some cheeses, a bit like a Greek Meze I guess, it was generally interesting and tasty but the white sliced bread that accompanied was a bit disappointing consider the quality of the other items
My partner went for an egg and cress sandwich which was good though she late wished she had the platter, no reflection on the sandwich though!
We had to relocate inside as wasps had taken a fancy to our Cokes and this was a pity on such a perfectly sunny day especially when it was uncomfortably hot inside.
I finished off with a cafetiere of coffee which was spot on and produced two good cups.
The ladies that run the shop are very friendly and the young lad that helps out is very courteous and polite.
The walks are available are many and varied, the whole area is very special indeed though try and keep away from the A40 as within 1/2 mile it can be heard clearly.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
