Woolcrest Textiles

I love this place though I didn't realise that it was open for retail until very recently. It's right back off the road and probably doesn't get many walk in customers but they are friendly enough if you're passing and want to buy some fabric.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Please please avoid at all costs.

So I called up the store the evening before to ask for a specific fabric. They tell me they have it in store and for me to come in and have a look. I was so pleased as all the stores I called either didn't have it or it was out of stock.

So the following day I come in (bare in mind I live an hour away) for staff to tell me they don't have it until a man comes up and says for me to check downstairs. I have never been in the place before so I kindly asked for directions as it was super crowded with fabric rolls, you literally can't go through certain paths unless it's one person at a time. That's how disorganised everything is, a literal mess!

Anyway eventually I got my response and was shown downstairs. I couldn't find the fabric I was looking for so I asked a staff member to assist me. They tell me they don't have the colour I want (disappointing) so of course I had to think more about an alternative option (this is for a uni project and I already decided on fabrics with my tutor so I didn't want to change it) but as the rolls were quite heavy I asked the man if he could unroll it so I can see it better as most were still in plastic and not to mention DIRTY!

I finally decide on my fabric and for some reason the man wasn't understanding what I was saying so he got frustrated and shouted at me saying he's told me three times or something and literally stormed off back upstairs leaving me on my own downstairs not having a clue what to do. I almost felt I had to do it all myself (take the roll upstairs, cut it etc) like I don't expect to be treated like royalty and I am always willing to help if necessary but his attitude was DISGUSTING so I had to ask the lady there (who was actually helpful) to cut it rather than him as he was rude.

Anyway, they only accept cash so I had to travel to the petrol station for free cash withdrawals as the nearby ones were either not working or charged almost £2. No thanks!

So if you're traveling from afar, please avoid. But if you are local and looking for a bargain you can have a look, you might find something good and cheap. Just pay attention! You don't want to get home to find you're fabric is filthy on the other side.
