Nestled in the heart of Japan, Manten Sushi offers a culinary experience that transcends the ordinary. As a connoisseur of fine dining, I was drawn to Manten Sushi by its promise of affordable omakase, where the chef curates a bespoke menu featuring a myriad of fresh and unique fish, including octopus, tuna, salmon, and more.

From the moment I stepped into Manten Sushi, I was greeted by an ambiance that exuded warmth and authenticity. The minimalist decor allowed the spotlight to shine on what truly matters--the food. Seated at the intimate sushi bar, I watched in awe as the skilled chefs meticulously crafted each dish with precision and passion.

The omakase experience at Manten Sushi is nothing short of exceptional. The chef's selection showcased an array of flavors and textures, each bite more tantalizing than the last. From the buttery richness of the toro to the delicate sweetness of the uni, every ingredient was carefully chosen to delight the senses.

What truly sets Manten Sushi apart is its commitment to quality. The fish, sourced from local markets, was impeccably fresh, elevating each dish to new heights. But it wasn't just the ingredients that impressed me--it was the creativity and ingenuity behind every creation. Whether it was a traditional nigiri or a modern interpretation, each piece was a work of art.

One standout dish was the octopus sashimi, which was tender yet chewy, with a subtle hint of smokiness that lingered on the palate. Another highlight was the tuna tartare, delicately seasoned with soy and sesame, creating a symphony of flavors that danced on the tongue.

In addition to the impeccable food, the service at Manten Sushi was impeccable. The chefs, true masters of their craft, took the time to explain each dish, sharing their passion for sushi with every guest.

In conclusion, Manten Sushi is a hidden gem that deserves to be discovered. Whether you're a seasoned sushi aficionado or a curious foodie looking to expand your palate, Manten Sushi offers an unforgettable dining experience that is both affordable and extraordinary. Prepare to embark on a culinary journey like no other at Manten Sushi.

Got sucked in by the Instagram hype.

Nice chefs. English friendly. It's Japan, so obviously everything was fresh. My major gripe is that most of the courses were not nigiri. We had abalone, boiled oyster, pickled radish, and some other non-fish dishes. Out of the 16 or so courses, I only remember 4 being fish. It was all tourists. Impeccably clean, but better sushi experiences are all over Tokyo. Avoid the hype. 4 stars because it was fresh, clean, and good service. Just need more fish.

Great value for omakase in Tokyo.

I saw this placed recommended by a couple of food IG accounts, so I made reservations to come here with a friend for lunch a couple weeks in advance. Make sure you reserve for counter seats!

From what I saw on Google Maps, there are multiple locations for Manten Sushi. This one is located in the basement of one of the Marunouchi buildings. The location is great because it's connected directly to the Tokyo Station underground.

For 7700 yen (roughly 55 USD at the time of my lunch), you get a ton of food. I see some other reviews mentioning 20+ courses, so I'm not sure whether that changes on a daily basis, but I was keeping track of what we got and it was 18 courses including a bowl of seaweed and the slice of orange at the end for dessert. My friend and I were both stuffed by the end.

The chef we had spoke limited English, enough to simply describe what each course is but not enough to really interact with him in any significant way. But still, it was a fun meal as our chef did his best to keep us entertained.

Here's a detailed breakdown of what we had (* marks my favorites):

      1 Shijimi (clam) soup
      2 Buri (yellowtail) nigiri
      3 Seaweed
      4 Scallop sashimi
      5 Chawanmushi with crab
6 Sawara (Spanish mackerel) sashimi with onion sauce *
      7 Abalone plus liver
      8 Shiro ebi nigiri
9 Pickled radish with tofu *
      10 Madai (white snapper) nigiri
11 Ikura and uni rice bowl *
12 Ankimo and kaki (monkfish liver and oyster)
13 Toro and akami tuna nigiri *
      14 Miso soup
      15 Anago (sea eel) nigiri
      16 Toro temaki
      17 Dried cucumber temaki
18 Hybrid orange and mikan slice for dessert

Overhyped and they know most customers are foreigners so they cut corners in terms of taking their time making the sushi. Felt a bit rushed and the sushi was a bit sloppy. Don't get me wrong the sushi was good but the presentation and atmosphere were not there. We also noticed that some customers did not get what we had and vice versa. We didn't get the mentaiko and others did not get abalone. Felt bad for them. I would not come back because there are better places to get a unique experience. Plus I was still somewhat hungry after.

My first omakase experience and it was delectable. Small location, underground, I believe it was 13 counter seats and 2 tables for parties of 4.

The staff and chefs were really friendly, spoke English, and kept the party at the counter entertained. Each piece of fish had me going "oooh" "mmmm" "wow". There was not a single item I did not enjoy.

Make reservations in advance online (2 people per reservation if you want to sit at the counter). 26 pieces for ~$50 USD.

Menten Sushi offers an exceptional omakase sushi experience that leaves a lasting impression. Securing a reservation for lunch provided to be a wise decision, as the overall experience was nothing short of extraordinary. The restaurant though modest in size, exudes a charming intimacy that enhances the overall dining ambiance.

A highlight of the experience was witnessing the chefs' meticulous craftsmanship as they handcrafted each roll with precision. Additionally, gaining insight into the traditional artistry behind handcrafted wasabi deepened my appreciation for the culinary nuances presented. The 25-course omakase menu is veritable feast, requiring diners to arrive with both an appetite and an adventurous palate ready to savor unique creations.

Remarkably, the pricing struck a commendable balance, offering excellent value given the quality and quantity of the dishes served. For prospective diners eager to embark on this gastronomic adventure, advance reservations are paramount. The limited availability during both lunch and dinner services speaks volumes about Menten Sushi's burgeoning popularity-a testament to its undeniable excellence.

Great value for omakase in Japan. We paid around $55 USD per person. We counted 25 courses and were full 19 dishes in! Our sushi chef suggested smaller rice, which helped. Sushi was fresh and delicious, the wasabi was also freshly grated ( so it has a good punch to it)!

We did the 9:00 seating, and they sat us exactly at 9:00. They seat all customers at once so courses can come out in a timely manner, like clockwork. We spent a little under 2 hours here. Service was prompt and foreigner friendly, as many workers spoke some English. In fact, most of the customers were foreigners who spoke English.

Small, cozy, restaurant with a mixture of counter and a few table seats. Great way to end or start your trip to Tokyo!

Paid around 54$ usd with the current exchange rate for this amazing omakase. You get a lot of variety making it averaging around like 2.25 a piece. Unheard of in the states.
Look at the pictures and tell me it's not good.

My first sushi spot in Tokyo! I was extremely impressed by how amazing this place was. A must go-to Omakase restaurant. They give you 27 courses over a duration of 120 minutes. A highlight of the experience is watching the chef's craftsmanship while entertaining us as guests. Service is prompt and foreigner friendly! The sushi is fresh and delicious. The ambiance is small, so definitely make reservations! Service is prompt! A great way to start my food tour in Japan!

I almost don't want to share this discovery, but this was my top 3 sushi experience in Tokyo. I sat at the bar, which has like 10 seats? They had a few other tables for bigger parties. I would recommend eating here with no more than four people (this is pretty common in Tokyo). The chef spoke minimal English.

Location - inside a mall/building. I had a hard time finding it. The line (without reservation) goes around the corner. If you have a reservation, you can check in with them at the front.

Reservation - we grabbed a last minute reservation 8 days prior. If we had known about this place earlier, we would have started tracking it right away. It helps if your time is flexible.

Sushi - terrific. I will say no more.

Pro tip: Check Google Maps for more accurate hours and location. Yelp is so outdated.

I did not expect this in the soup
