NOTE: This is a whole experience-- from the bell-ringing for every customer, to the songs playing overhead, to the staff dressed in frilly fits and clapping and singing, it is a LOT to take in LOL. It's just silly fun but a heads up for those who have social anxiety

I WILL NEVER (never ever) PASS UP A THEME CAFE ;u; Of course I had to go! This is up a few flights of stairs, I don't think there is an elevator unfortunately. I took a ticket at the entrance, but was called nearly immediately (Monday evening). The staff are so welcoming, very much in character to be sweet and bubbly. The entire restaurant is decked out with themed furniture, plushies, wall hangings, and more-- lots of photo ops.

PURIN-KUN'S TROPICAL MANGO LASSI: Lightly tart and a little sweet. Pretty refreshing. The candy Pompompurin on top isn't very good though (I swear it's not plastic!!!! It's some weird bland chocolate).

DREAMY MELT-IN-YOUR-MOUTH POMPOMPURIN DONUT: More dense, like a heavy cake donut. Doesn't melt in your mouth but goes well with some tea. The pudding on top is very sweet.

Price isn't too bad for a character cafe. You also get a nice view of the Shiba Cafe right across the street (!!!!!!). The food is ok, you're really here for the cozy atmosphere and cute decor!

As we arrived you are to to put your name down and wait outside. There are no reservations so its first come first serve. They have 3 rules, 90 mins seat time only, each kid must order a drink, can be a soda or a juice, I forgot last rule but those are the main 2 you must follow.
The cutest cafe with areas for photo ops. They also sell merchandise as well.
We order the mango parfait, which was kid approved. The strawberry latte was yummy. We got the cheesy hamburger steak, so flavorful.
Also got a caramel custard latte....very tasty and sweet. This is a must stop if you are a Sanrio fan. Super cute and the wait staff are friendly.

Aight so as a heads up, the kitchen closes at 7PM (no longer serving food) and will serve drinks from 7 to 7:30PM, after that the rest of the cafe is closed for walk-ins. Everyone in your party, regardless of time you enter, is required to order one drink per person. It can be as simple as a glass of iced coffee or oolong tea, you are not obligated to get a "fancy drink".

I love Pompompurin as much as the next person, but don't expect much from the food. It's a themed cafe marketed towards children so don't have high hopes, that being said the best food they have is the hamburg steak! May not be the prettiest but it does the job if you fr want something palpable. I still had a lot of fun with the atmosphere and took a bunch of pics. Don't forget to get a cheki (decorated Polaroid) when you order your food too. I wouldn't mind coming back the next time I'm in Japan!

If you love Pompompurin you gotta come here at least once lol. It's located on the 3rd floor of a building in the Harajuku district along a busy street with tons of food, shopping and cat/puppy cafes. We came for the cute Instagram worthy food but don't expect it to be Michelin star quality haha - I was hungry but I still couldn't finish the food bc it wasn't that tasty. The custard milk shake thing was delish though! The workers there who are all dressed up, sing to you in Japanese as you enter, hand you a little card all in Japanese and ask you ok?? No idea what it says but I nodded my head and we were seated lmaoo. You can take pics at various spots in the small cafe and the staff can also take a Polaroid for you for like 500¥ if I recall. They sell exclusive merchandise. You must buy a drink per person and there is a 90 minute limit to your meal.

This is a cute cafe for kids and young adults. I went with a group of friends to experience the cafe and it was very nice.
The food was good and seemed fresh but there are some limited options.
The hamburger steak was good and flavorful.
The service was quick and very friendly over all.

Pompompurin is actually one of my favorite Sanrio characters, and while I knew the Pompompurin Cafe existed... I didn't plan on stopping by. We had already gone to other character cafes like the Rilakkuma Cafe in Kyoto and the Kirby Cafe near Skytree. But on a day where we had unlimited Tokyo Metro use and needed a place to cool off and relax... we decided to hop the train over to Harujuku and check out another cute character cafe.

Disclaimer: We only came here for drinks and a dessert, so my review cannot speak for food like the actual entrees.

      LOGISTICS

Located in Harajuku, it's on the 2nd floor of a plaza. Unlike other character cafes... this was one of the easiest to visit. There's a tablet waiting list outside to enter the queue, but it took us no time to get in.

First off - THE THEME IS ON POINT. From the decorations, to the furniture, and even the staff uniforms... everything was so cute and well put together. This is different from pop-up character cafes where they might just put up posters - no this was a cafe where the chairs even resembled Pompompurin and they had statues of him and his friends.

The staff will greet you in cheerful character as you enter, likewise when you order. It kind of reminded me of what a maid cafe would be like... but this was easier to deal with. They were very nice about taking our photos with teh decorations and encouraged us to use the props as well.

      DRINK

There is a minimum to dine here - each person must order 1 drink item and seating is allowed for 90 min. Drink requirement include the themed drinks, but it appears regular sodas and tea will work as well. We got the following:

Purin-kun's Tropical Mango Lassi: Cutest mango lassi I've ever had - as a lassi it was pretty tart from the yogurt, which made it a little difficult to drink when your mouth is dry from the weather. But still tasty with a very cute white chocolate based Pompompurin that you can sink.

Pom Pom Purin's Shiny Sundae: A mango an yogurt sundae topped with a custard of Pompompurin. This was very fun to eat since the custard was jiggly... and what's not to like of destroying and adorable dessert? Honestly I liked this more than the mango lassi - it was tart from the yogurt but had more sweetness because of the custard. All toppings were edible - the stars were like white chocolate and the sticks were marshmallows.

Matcha Latte: This was a seasonal special... typical matcha latte that hit the spot on a hot day, but bonus points was that it cute with the same white chocolate Pompompourin decor.

      OVERALL:

If you're a fan of Pompompurin... I think it's worth it to stop by for a drink and enjoy the cute and cheery atmosphere. The drinks were nice on a hot day and we had fun eating the dessert parfait. Again I cannot speak for the food, but based on other reviews it's not tasty (though cute)... but honestly that should be expected at character cafes (and maid cafes).

It's also in a nice spot of Harajuko to explore, and the lack of crowds makes it a great spot to relax in a cute environment.

We went here since our daughter loves the character. The drinks were good and the pudding dessert . Everything else was not good at all. The curry was over wheling and rice dry. My pizza wasn't cut and the butter knife wouldn't cut it.

This was not like Purland. Oh well the worse food we had in Japan.

At least it made for good photos

Located in takeshita street, we went here after a long morning of shopping and exploring. Pompompurin is one of my favorite characters so we had to come check this cafe out

The cafe was so adorable however they had a requirement where all of the members of your party were required to order a drink. This would have been fine however the prices at this cafe were some of the highest that we've seen in all of Japan. That is to be expected though with these themed cafes!

Even though the prices of the drinks were high, I would most of the ones that we got! All of the exclusive drinks came with a special Pompompurin cookie that was customizable! My favorite was the mango lassi. It was very tart. Even if you arent into coffee, I would recommend getting the mocha latte. Someone in my group got it and even though they despise coffee, they said it was their favorite drink of the group. We also got the melon soda, which was alright.

Not sure what all the bad reviews are about but I loved this place. Granted, the food was average but phenomenal service makes up for it. Our waitress was so sweet and went out of her way to try and make conversation with my group and I. For food, I would recommend the butter chicken curry and the mango lassi. The omurice was okay. It was a lot of rice and not too much flavor. Although it was cute, I would not recommend the matcha drink.

Super cute with exclusive Pompom Putin goods and photo spots! The desserts were tasty and well made although on the pricier side (definitely paying for the experience and character goods). Located on the second floor, next to a cat cafe on Takeshita street which is an easy walk from Harajuku station. Would recommend as a one-time experience for Sanrio lovers!
