Yuichiro wasn't exaggerating when he said that this place's egg sandwiches were the best he's ever had! This hidden gem in the back alleys of Azabujuban provides such an elegant craft of Dashimaki Tamago (Japanese style omelette with bonito stock soup) with mayonnaise and Japanese mustard (or karashi) spread on the bread. It is a bit different from western egg sandwiches, so keep that in mind. Even so, I'm confident that these egg sandwiches will blow you away.
The sandwiches are cut into bite-size pieces, but the portion is pretty large. It was really delicious for the first half, but started to get tough to swallow during the second half; thats just how eggs are. Also, the egg is so slippery, that they always slip out after the first bite lol. I recommend getting the mix sandwiches which includes other sandwiches like ham. It adds variety.
The customers after us got the last serving of egg sandwiches, so understand that they have limited stock everyday. The kitchen also seems to be run by one guy, so you may wait a long time till you get the food.
Also, just like what the other reviews have mentioned, Amanoya might randomly decide to close early or not open depending on the day. How do they get away with that? Well, their sandwiches are just that good.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Yuichiro N.東京都中央区1522071352015年12月29日
THE BEST egg sandwich I've ever had in my entire life....it's just so good (for Japanese people). The eggs are so fluffy, made with Japanese bonito stock soup, which goes perfectly well with Japanese mustard and mayo! Superb simplicity.
Not much more to say, but one thing to note is that they open/close pretty randomly so you'd be confused why they say they are open "12:00-23:00" while they seemingly take a long after-lunch break till dinner time starts. My suggestion is that you get there a bit before noon and get in the line, then you should be able to get a seat before they wrap up lunch time.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
