Premium Matcha Cafe Maiko

This review is from when I visited here during my trip to Hawaii in February 2024.

I loooooove matcha! I drink matcha at home almost every day.
If you love matcha too, you should try this cafe! They use Uji matcha, which is a very good quality matcha from Kyoto, Japan.
They have many selections such as shaved ice, soft serve, parfait, float, frappe, and teas.

I tried matcha soft serve, but next time, I would like to try the Shogun matcha soft serve topped with a 23.75K gold leaf!
Even without the gold leaf, the matcha soft serve was delicious. Corn was thin so it didn't bother the matcha flavor of soft serve.

FYI, they don't accept cash.
They don't have any space to eat inside.

I will never stop talking about cafe Maiko!! This is easily our favorite dessert place after eating in Waikiki. We went 2 times in 3 days AND it's parents approved (that's when you know it's delicious).

So far we have had the vanilla,matcha, hojicha, and ube. The matcha is still my favorite because it actually tastes like matcha and I love that it comes sprinkled with matcha powder. The hojicha and ube combo is unbeatable with the roasted flavor of hojicha pairing really well with the smooth and creamy ube. Yum!!

As a matcha enthusiast, I was thrilled to discover Premium Matcha Cafe Maiko, a haven for all things matcha. My recent visit exceeded my expectations, and I can't wait to share my delightful experience with you!

Matcha Ice Cream:
The matcha ice cream was sublime! The smooth, creamy texture perfectly balanced the rich, vibrant green tea flavor. It was like tasting a sweet, frozen piece of Japan.

Maiko Special:
The Maiko Special, a signature drink, stole the show. This work of art combined expertly whisked matcha powder with velvety milk, creating a harmonious blend of bitter and sweet notes. Each sip transported me to a serene Japanese garden.

Authenticity:
What impressed me most was the cafe's commitment to authenticity. The matcha used is directly sourced from Japan, ensuring the highest quality and flavor. The owners' attention to detail and passion for matcha culture shine through in every aspect of the cafe.

Ambiance:
welcoming atmosphere perfect for relaxing with a cup of matcha.

Service: Good

In conclusion, Premium Matcha Cafe Maiko is a must-visit for anyone who loves matcha or wants to experience authentic Japanese culture. The matcha ice cream and Maiko Special are standouts, and the cafe's dedication to quality and authenticity is evident in every aspect. Ice cream and dessert shop in Waikiki, near Marogame, with friendly service. Your order on the kiosk, unless you're, kama'aina. I failed to see the sign and didn't get my discount, but next time will.

Ordered the Matcha ice cream, and it was pretty good, had the fold flavors that I like no seating inside the place, but there are places to sit in and around the courtyard.

Convenient location behind Marugame Udon/Kono's and neighbors with Ebi Nomi and Franks & Fries. Matcha Maiko is great for an after meal treat or just whenevers.

I wish they open earlier in the morning but I guess nobody likes ice cream before 11am, lol.

Their matcha is a 10 out of 10. However I've been wanting to try their Sakura flavor since it's a limited time, seasonal spring-is-in-the-air item.

It was not the cherry blossom flavor I was hoping for which, for me, has to have a flavor profile that rivals Kaiwa's Sakura martini. That peach, raspberry & lemon was a magic combo that worked.

Maiko's cherry blossom flavor tasted like a very faint, super subtle hint of strawberry flavor. 3.5/5 Stars

I would also like to try their Ube flavor next which is also seasonal according to their menu.

Card payment only. This is a cashless store where you can interact with the cashier or use the self order kiosk.

No inside seating but there is a bench outside the store to sit and enjoy or you can use the tables/chairs outside in the courtyard area.

I've been here twice and loved everything I've tried so far! The first time, my husband and I tried the matcha and Sakura soft serves. The matcha, oh my, it sure packs a punch! After a few spoonfuls, I felt the matcha running through my veins. It had such a wonderfully deep, nutty green flavor and just the right amount of sweetness to balance it out. The Sakura had a soft, delicately beautiful flavor that we both could not get enough of. The only downside is that it melted a lot faster than the matcha for some reason. My second time here, I decided to try the parfait, and it was an interesting treat. Those who enjoy eating through different layers and textures will like this. It had matcha cake, corn flakes, chestnut, mochi, red bean and agar agar. I can't wait to go back and try their other limited edition flavor (ube) and the lattes!

Nice soft serve spot behind Marugame Udon. We ordered a ube+matcha and a matcha+vanilla. If you're a matcha person, you'll definitely enjoy this more than we did. The matcha was stronger than we've tasted flavor-wise.

Every time I'm in Waikiki, I must get their green tea ice cream float. Too good to pass up!

Best matcha on the island, still.
Always consistently good here. I was torn on which to get but so satisfied to get the matcha in a cone. I forgot they add matcha powder on top making it so delicious. It's not too sweet at all and it's a nice deep matcha flavor. The matcha frappe was good too but you could taste it was milky.
Overall, I'll always come back here for authentic matcha ice cream!

Cute soft serve ice cream spot! It's a tiny, tiny store where the line can be 10-20 minutes and then you have to wait 20-30 minutes.. Only really had stomach room for one dessert so we got the matcha soft serve. I highly recommend them for the matcha soft serve if you like it very matcha-y and slightly bitter.. Otherwise get the milk and matcha swirl.

Also, take your pictures quick because it melts really fast.. We went in November and within a minute of getting our ice cream it was starting to drip down the cone.
