Oceana

Decent on a Wednesday if you're a student on social. But on many times i've experienced extremely rude bar staff and bouncers. The place is not a particularly fancy establishment but they still make you pay to check your jackets or jumpers, which has taken at least 20 minutes of waiting in line. Don't bother with this place if you're just traveling through.

Booked via phone a few weeks back, easy enough. Lady seemed to think I'm a bit incompetent, though, as she over explained each step. I never got a booking confirmation in my email, checked all my folders a few times. Decided to call up next day, but nobody answered. Called up again last week, but the girl that picked up just put me on hold for a bit before asking me to write an email.
Eh. Not too bothered for the low price, but probably not my next go-to venue.

If you remember Ikon this place is Just Ikon Diva with a face lift!


Ikon is now the Ice House and Diva is now New York Disco. Where hotshots used to be is the bar quarter and this is proabably the nicest part.


The bar quarter is a few bars seperated by walls but each one has a different vibe, some with large sofas and beds to lay on.


The main part of bar quarter is a big bar surrounded by booths which you can hire for a birthday celebration but i have heard they are not cheap.


The main Oceana area is much the same just with a few doors moved and a paint job to alter the layout.


Unfortunatly it is the same kind of people going there who went when it was Ikon Diva and this can cause a bad atmosphere and the door staff seem obliviously to this. They can also be quite rude.


Drinks are expensive with my firend paying £6 for a double vodka red bull!


I personally give this place a miss unless it is a friends birthday and they want to go.

This is Southampton's premier venue apparently, Bascially Pikon / Diva has had a refit and this is the result, well, its now Pikon in slightly less gawdy decor and vomit stained carpets. the queue outside to get in surely proves the popularity of this place.


The annoyance of having to wear shoes is hear in all its glory the line 'no trainers mate' etc.. by the oggles at the door deny entry. Pretentious up them selves are everywhere in southampton - this is basically a large orange rooms where all the pretension is unified to make a place to avoid. The location of leisure world and size of it make u feel more like wondering to a huge prison / death camp then to atcuallu ' have fun'

Oceana is a great club which is new to Southampton. It has different bars and clubs inside. The club can accommodate 4000 people, making it the largest Ocena in the country. It is quite expensive to get in to. The drink prices are okay. They play some great music and a different genre depending on what room you are in. Some of the rooms are 20/25+ on a Friday and Saturday. They have smoking terraces throughout the building.

Oceana is a big nightclub in Southampton for 400 people. Wednesday night is Student Night entitled Get Lost! because you actually will. It is massive and, depending on what happens, you can have a great night or a bad one.
There are 3 different rooms: Louisiana is a cheesy room, Ice bar is R'n'B, dance etc and then there is a Disco room
Overall, it is a good place to go, one of the nicest looking clubs in Southampton - definitely better than Jesters

The massage ladies love Oceana. The music is just dance enough to get the heart pumping and not so much you feel you've just run a marathon. There is always something happening, lots of promotional nights and it attracts a young but not too young crowd (avoid student night!)

I really wonder how people can enjoy a night in Oceana. Getting there is the first problem. Take a cab or walk in a large group, Ocean village is in the grim south, a couple of minutes off the city center, not a nice place to be after nightfall. The place itself is way too massive for the number of people that are actually going there. So you will be freezing even when you're dancing all night which you won't unless you have drunk yourself deaf. Horrible music! As if the DJ himself has not heard any music but BBC1's Friday evening trash. The prices are ok, but the drinks are less than mediocre.The crowd is as you would expect it to be in a place like this. If the first thing I have to say to a man is: Get your hands off my bum, I am not really interested in getting to know himAll in all: Don't go there!

what a fantastic venue! about time southampton had somewhere like this.
oceana takes up the space of what used to be ikon, diva, jumping jaks and hotshots.
it's massive, with several bars and nightclubs. it's like a maze and all interjoined from the inside.
fridays are free to get in, but you have to get stamped into each area - so make sure you go into each entrance once at the start of the night, then you can access all areas from the inside..nb most areas are over 18s but one or two are over 21s. it's about £7 on a saturday but expect to queue unless you pre-order your tickets on the web, in which case you get to queue-jump for free (recommended!).
drinks are priced quite reasonably - not overinflated as you might expect. all the glasses are plastic but instead of the usual student quality plastic glass, they're quite sturdy and nicely shaped!
there's a real mix of age groups and music styles so something for everyone.
lastly, they've really got their act together for us smokers - there's a smoking area close to every part of the club - but beware they get packed!
overall a great place for a night out.

well thank god the owners organised a facelift an relaunched ikon and diva. Whilst i always enjoyed a good night here, it did seem as though it was getting quieter and quieter here everytime i went, and when you have the size of this place with only a few bods in, whoa it's quiet!


So Oceana is the new kid on the block and it seems to have done the trick, plenty of new decor to stare at, lots of bars still which really helps the queues, and one of the first places to offer smoking areas dedicated to all of you puffers out there!


This place is well worth a visit, get there early and you'll benefit from still having cash on you when you get through the entrance, other wise you might lose it on the entrance fees after 11.


Watch out for a little trouble from time to time, like any big club i suppose, this place can have it's fair share!
